Rex and Joyce Martin owned and operated Wonderwall Music, a record shop on the east side of Indianapolis in the 1970’s and 1980’s. They launched Abstractions in 1981 and continued until the mid 1980’s, releasing an EP in 1981 and an LP in 1985, both on their label Starstruck Records. Abstractions consisted in part of previous members of The Obvious and Lip Service, both early Indianapolis new wave bands. Rex Martin launched a new band, 2B Stainless, around 2014. The EP track “Why Can’t It Wait” was included in the 2014 CD “Early Indiana Punk 1976-83: The Crazy Al’s Year(s)”. A video for “Wah Wah” appeared on MTV’s Basement Tapes and USA Network’s Night Flight. | |
