The Claytons formed in Fort Wayne in 1963, and released two 45’s during their time. The band was named for the Yaffe Brothers, who were originally from Clayton, Missouri. The first 45 was released on B. Racker, which only has one documented release. The other is on Fort Wayne’s M Records; both of the 45’s are thought to have been released in 1966. “Puttin’ Me On” from the M release received airplay in Chicago and Detroit, as well as in Fort Wayne. That song also appears on a few garage compilations, including the Boulder series from Moxie Records. Discogs.com attributes a third 45 to The Claytons, a Columbia release from 1969 that features a cover of the Buffalo Springfield’s “For What It’s Worth”. Based on the comments by band members in the Musicmaster Oldies reference article, that does not seem to be correct. |

The drummer was great for the 60s
Was that you?? I have a copy of the 45 from my great aunt who lived in Ohio. I have no clue why she has it but it must mean something to her … can we get in touch about this?
It is the only record in her collection of things. So intriguing.
