The Proof of the Puddin’ was named the day before they recorded their only 45. Starting as the XL’s (Wilder – Groves- Moody, but not the same band as the Terre Haute XL’s) and then adding Hubler as the Shakers, changing the name to the Gas Company. The Gas Company ended up in NY to record at the RCA studios, standing in line with many bands for their turn at the big time. They found the “Gas Company” was already used so quickly renamed the band released one 45, “Color Wheel / Flying High”. “Flying High” was actually the band while “Color Wheel” the band was relegated to vocals with other orchestration. Wilder later wrote the theme for “Walker – Texas Ranger”
