The Cardinals recorded for Chicago label Cha Cha Records, and are often considered a Chicago band. However, they are probably from the Marion, Indiana area. There are four confirmed Cha Cha releases, all in the mid 1960’s, plus a fifth that may be a variation combining two songs from two different 45’s. Their last release was accompanied by a picture sleeve, shown above. Cha Cha was the label for several other Indiana bands, including Mogen David and the Grapes of Wrath, The Hatfields, and The Outsiders (the Michigan City band of that name). |

The name Tom Penrose is incorrect. His name was Tom Penzone. He was a dear friend of mine and wrote the song Tomato Juice which was also recorded by The Cardinals
