The Vlasics (aka Valasics) formed in Southport in 1965 and with very few changes lasted until 1969. The Vlasics played the usual teen circuit, frat/sorority parties, graduations, and some of better known central Indiana clubs like: The Whiteland Barn, Flame Club, House of Sound (Plainfield), and the Indiana State Fair “teen tent”. May 1968, the Vlasics made the trip to Universal Studios in Chicago and recorded a couple sides there, “Break Away” / “Things Moving Fast”. The boys left that session with a tape and/or acetate, and little else. Somehow the recordings made their way to Dove Studios in Minneapolis, MN and a 45 was pressed on Dove’s “Candy Floss” label in 1969. The Vlasics were misspelled as Valasics on the label, however Duaine and Dan’s writing credits remained. The Vlasics had no idea that the 45 was pressed until I showed them a copy in 2011. Val Muylle was a member of Good Cheer, joining the later version of The Vlasics after Good Cheer broke up. |
