3 Souls aka The Three Souls
Hometown: Indianapolis | |
The 3 Souls were a jazz trio based in Indianapolis, releasing three 45’s in the late 1950’s on local Note Records, and in 1973 supported vocalist Aretta La Marre for another single; according to Al Coleman, that version of the band included himself, Bailey and McCloud. The band remained active locally into the 1990’s. While they were also known as The Three Souls, they are often confused with another Three Souls soul group from Chicago. Further adding to the confusion is that both groups recorded for the Argo label. Will Scott was also involved with Indianapolis doo-wop group The Counts, writing and arranging songs for the group. Henry Cain is best known for his solo LP The Funky Organ-ization of Henry Cain, a major label release via Capitol Records in 1968. |
