The Accents were a very popular vocal trio from Indianapolis, forming in the mid 1960’s, releasing a psychedelic rock single on the Prime label, which appears to be from Cincinnati, and then a debut LP on their label, Forward Productions. They were signed to RCA which released one album and a single. After being dropped from RCA, they released two more records on Entertainers, Inc label. They traveled extensively in the Midwest, playing at clubs and hotel lounges. Their sound ranged from pop to rock, with harmony vocals recalling both the Beach Boys and Four Freshmen, and could be described as “Sunshine Pop”. Richard Donahue moved to Los Angeles and became involved in music publishing, songwriting, and production. He wrote the hit song “It’s the Lover, Not the Love” for pop singer Tiffany, later relocating to Nashville, TN to continue in publishing and songwriting. |
