Arsenal formed in Terre Haute in the late 1970’s, releasing one LP on the Pinebrook label in 1981. Arsenal blends elements of hard rock, metal and moody rock into an appealing set of songs; the LP is quite scarce and expensive on the collectors market. No reissues are known at this writing. The LP was recorded at Pinebrook Studios in Alexandria; both the label and studio, owned by Bill Gaither, are best known for Christian and gospel releases; the professional sound of the recordings is attributable to both the quality of the studio as well as producers Mark Hammel and JT Corenflos, and engineer John Bolt. Hammel had a long career with Christian bands, both playing and producing, while Corenflos was a longtime country session musician, playing with many big name artists, including Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, Billy Ray Cyrus and Asleep at the Wheel. Bolt also worked with numerous acts, including Indiana artists Naptown Afro Jazz Quintet, Bill Gaither, Nancy Honeytree and Sandi Patti. |
