My name is James Boudreau and I was a member of the Saharas. It was a truly magical time that summer in 1966 when the band climbed on board the big white bus to start out on the “Spirit of 66” tour. That Summer we played in a different town every night for 90 straight nights while the days were filled with interviews by local radio stations and an occasional afternoon performance, it was the night time shows at local county fairs throughout Indiana that we were able to do our full Spirit of 66 show that included the GoGo girls dancing to the Rock & Roll beat of the Saharas. Some nights the crowds were only a few hundred and some nights it was people as far as you could see with the largest turn out being around ten thousand. We were all only 16 years old living in a dream that filled our hearts with warm memories that are still with us 60 years later. I could write a book about the summer of 66 a simpler time and place when a really great band played music and GoGo girls danced to the hits from the best music era ever. –

After their Republican Party fair tour the Saharas performed at many venues such as Indiana Beach, Tippy Gardens, the Black Light, Stepan Center and they opened for groups like the Spencer Davis Group, Merseybeats, Ides of March and the Buckinghams.
