Hometown: Hammond | |
The Todds were a garage rock band from Hammond. They released one single on Chicago label Toddlin’ Town records, “I Want Her Back/Things Have Changed”, in 1967. Toddlin’ Town was one of several labels run by George and Earnest Leaner; their label empire also included One-derful, M-Pac, Halo, Midas and Mar-V-Lus. Toddlin’ Town initially focused on garage rock to differentiate it from the soul that populated their other labels, but later, owing to lack of success with most of its garage rock lineup, Toddlin’ Town became better known for its later soul releases. The Todds’ single is well regarded, energetic garage rock with strong melodies, vocals and production. Likely due to its release on the ambitious label Toddlin’ Town, copies are relatively plentiful. The Todds single appears on several compilations, including the Gear Fab compilation of Indiana garage rock, and on the Pebbles/Highs In the Mid Sixties compilation series. |
