Zoo
Hometown: New Buffalo, MI
While we do not know much about The Zoo, it seems they were from New Buffalo, Michigan, and were formerly known as The Chantels. Their lone 45 as The Zoo was released in 1967 on Russ Sanders’ Seascape Records from LaPorte, Indiana, so they are often mistakenly classified as an Indiana band. Further light on this was shed when a former member of The Endd, Sanders’ band, stated that the song “This Is Not The Zoo Plus Two” on the flip side of The Endd’s “Come On Into My World” 45 is actually The Zoo, because The Endd did not have another recording ready. So, Sanders stuck the Zoo song on the back side and showed the band name as “The Endd?”.
